roush hood scoop

Hey guys...I'm really thinking of getting a roush hood scoop and would like to hear from those of you who have one. I'm mainly interested in any unique set-up you have, such as cutting a hole in the hood to make it functional, etc. ....although plain old pics are always nice too!

Make that two of us that would like to see pics and more. Been thinking of adding one if found at the right price. Interested in any installation stories, good bad or ugly.

If you want pictures and/or reviews, Google works wonders and so does the search forum option.

Almost no one actually has a functional hood scoop. It takes quite a bit of custom fabbing in order to make it work, and it provides very little power gain. If you want the looks, fine, but don't go drilling giant holes in the hood and plumbing it into the intake.

Didn't do anything fancy here. But here is mine. Wish I would have gotten some silicone or something in there when I installed it, it catches water, and I have to make sure and lift the hood after I wish it, otherwise i have a trickle from the corners.

I would not suggest trying to make it functional...if the wind catches it just right it will rip it off I think. I had mine painted flat black in the "Scoop" area to make it look for realistic, however with the luv bugs in FL it has gotten pretty beat up so I'm gonn ahve to shell out the $50 for the CF insert!

great pics, all i like the look, very refined, it fits the truck model well and looks tough. yeah- i was thinking of just cutting a hole for cooling the engine some (not the ram air i'd really like, of course), but afraid of what would collect inside the scoop area. i mean i could make a filter for bugs, but here in ny i'd be afraid of the damn salt in the winter......maybe i'll just tack it on. it's neat seeing what others have done. is the actual roush truck's scoop functional? i assume so. krohbar- the stripe makes the hood look even more muscular-cool.

Those hood scoops look good! How exactly do you install them? Is there any drilling/cutting required?

There would be minimal "cooling" provided with the hood scoop. People fail to realize that the middle of the hood isn't the greatest spot for a low-profile scoop as the airflow over the front of the hood "skips over" the hood scoop. Most of any major airflow goes right over the top of it. That's why on muscle cars, they eventually moved the ram air scoops to the front of the hood or lifted the scoop several inches off of the hood surface.

ROUSH sends instructions on both styles of mounting the scoop....along with a template if you do decide on drilling the hood!

It's pretty nerve racking the first time you drill through a perfectly good hood.....best thing to do is drill through the "Template", makes it a little better! LoL
