Window won't roll up

I can hear the motor in there trying to move the window but it won't budge..what else is to the window other than the motor?

The window was up when I parked my truck too..can the cable break or something causing it to fall? It isn't shattered..at least I don't think since it didn't sound like anything was broken

Check the fuse first. Most likely one of two things. Motor came unpluged, motor is bad. It's an easy fix if you are mechanicly incline.

If the fuse were blown or the motor was unplugged, you wouldn't hear it trying to work...........

yeah i went ahead and pulled the door panel off..i guess the regulator is FUBAR

buddy works at a stealership says it's a common problem and he'll get order me one on Tuesday..got a stick stuck in it now to keep the window up...

It hasn't rained in forever here in Texas but not 30 minutes after i discovered my broken window the damn bottom fell out and i had to tarp it up

Yes, it's the regulator. You can get one guaranteed for life made by Dorman, at AutoZone. It also costs less than the one from Ford, about $50 less for me.

How much are they? Looking online i saw them for $70?

ranger332 Sep 4, 2011 01:58 AM

Both mine went. Driver side at about 30g and the passenger side at about 50g. Parts for the passenger side cost me a little less than $100 at the stealership. Driver side went under warranty. One for the good guys.

Yeah I know how you feel...after leaving my windows cracked last spring I came out to lunch in a downpour and my driver's side window has been a little sticky ever since then. I think it had been raining for a good twenty minutes like that, with my windows about 1/3 of the way down. Used that as an excuse to get VentVisors before our trip to Dallas last fall:)

Make sure that includes the motor. I paid $175 at the dealer and $125 at AutoZone.

Bluejay, I just looked at my receipt from the dealer and mine was $93.53. I wonder why yours was so much more?

If you got a regultor including the motor for that it was a bargain, I have never heard of another one that cheap.

do i have to buy the motor with it? my motor works fine..

ranger332 Sep 5, 2011 10:53 PM

You know Bluejay, now that you say that, it might have only been the regulator. I bought it through the mechanic wear I work. He gave the receipt, from the dealer, and said that the motor and regulator were sold as an assembly so I got both..I guess he was full of it. Anyway, he changed it for nothing so anyway you look at I came out ahead.

Window Repair

Just a heads up, Dorman has discontinued their rear 04-08 Window regulators. Had to buy mine from the Ford Dealer for $140 (last week). Purchase the window reg/motor, the front or rear takes about an hour to repair.

Your gonna need to replace the window regulator assembly. It's very easy to do- I replaced my rear driverside door window regulator about 3 weeks ago in less than an hour.
