STX's are full of surprises
:beers:first off- f150online rules and i love/hate my red 04 stx 4.6 supercab 4x4.
stx are full of surprises.. :fyi:come to find out about STX's- 5.4 2v engines bolt right in place of 4.6 2v and it avoids all the spark plug and cam phaser issues associated with the 5.4 3v series engines you can upgrade from a 4r70e to a beefier 4r75e transmission with just a tuner stx s dont come with a tach but you can plug and play/upgrade to the fancy xlt,fx4 cluster with the tach. lariets more work, but doable the rear windows are locked but come to find out are on tracks! my truck had holes in doors and i always wondered why some a-hole put them there. so the windows do go down- yayyy! i noticed my windows are etched for cheaper insurance- maybe its just mine idk mine didnt come with power locks but i had them(actuators) installed with my auto start kit for around $100 the cloth seats rip and stain easily but some iggee faux seat covers does wonders all f150's- the stock exhaust is restrictive and quiet but a side pipe exhaust is easily had for around $80 if you can weld. muffler/angle/tip the stock intake is restrictive and quiet but you can gut the silencer and make the intake inlet from 2.25'' to 3'' for a couple bucks-gotts mod hopefully you learned something!!!! :rocker:long live the STX:rocker: |
so whatcha been drinkin' tonight? ;)

*04-06 for the 2v 5.4 swap *4r75e comes with the 3v 4.6 |
etched glass isnt stock- its something the dealer does if you pay for it. I had it done to my last car.
Some STX's come with power windows and locks You wont pass an emissions test with a 2v 5.4 swapped in, atleast not in NY. |
This thread is amazing

..you better not tell anybody if theres no check engine lights and tuned properly whats the problem. they look/are identical other then .8'' deck height(same pistons, heads, injectors, etc) and the p/s pump bolts in slighlty different location. unless your a master ford mechanic idk you can tell the difference. in nj, they did away with inspection. cutting jobs and safety is always a good idea ;) we still have the emissions testing in nj using the obd2 port. i think thier checking emissions, not for illegal engine swaps. id be surprised if they check vin body to vin pcm. possible considering the vin is stored in the dash cluster. |
how about some pictures...

In NY they hook up a computer to the OBD2 port and the computer is connected directly to the DMV and Im sure youd have to use a different computer than the stock one from a 4.6.
