Correct transfer case fluid?

Is it Mercon thats in the manual or has it actually been upgraded to Mercon V?

I called the dealer and the parts guy said that on the Mercon V bottle it states "NOT TO BE USED IN TRANSFER CASES" but, they sell transfer case fluid for only $9.85 a bottle!

I would not buy fluid from the dealer. I'd use any reputable brand of universal ATF that meets Mercon specs, synthetic preferred such as "Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF"
