First FX4 in Sweden (I hope;))

Hi fellas.

Im planning a trip to the US this fall to get myself the most awesome truck out there, a 07-08 FX4 and I kind of need some guidance before I cross the big sea. So this is my list of things I want to throw on the truck.

Rize 8" basic lift
22" wheels with 37x13,5 tires
4.88 gears
(headers+exhaust)
(CAI)
(Superchip programmer)

I know a lot of people are running with this, or similar setup. Really the only thing I need help with is the gears. I need to find out exactly witch gears i should get, and where I can get them. I checked summit but there you wont find any gears if you choose a 07 f150?
Is there anything else I should know, before taking on this project.

take care guys

Alex from Sweden

Alex, What does gas run in Sweden? With an FX-4 (5.4L) and 4:88 gears (didn't even know you could fit them in that housing) I trust you're independently wealthy. cause you're gonna need to be!

are you planning on buying the truck already lifted or do it yourself? if yourself then i'd suggest buying it a few months before you even come into the US, some people here have waited 5+ months to get there lift in.

there are better tunes then superchips for about the same price. check out VMP tuning and Troyer performance. the power difference between the 2 are astronomical and much better for your truck.

how long do you plan on being in the US?

I need a truck like this in my line of work, so I dont have much of a choice.
But you have a good point, since gas here is alot more expensive.
About the 4.88 gears, I got that from searching the forum. So I was hoping to hear from someone whos running 37" and a regear.

I need to get the truck to sweden in the original state. Otherwise I will have issues on "making the car swedish". But after ive done that it wont be a problem throwing on the lift and tires.
I have planned on going to the states for 2-3 weeks. Since im putting the car in a contenier, im throwing in the lift and tires aswell. Gonna throw 3-4 dirtbikes in aswell. Their halfprice in the states. So ill probably need 2-3 weeks to put everything together.

4.88's fit majority of people on this site w/ 37's have these gears. make sure to get install kits and what not for them as well if they are hard to get ahold of in sweden.

i would try and find a shop close to where ever you will be staying here and start working with them before coming to the states to go ahead and have everything ordered and to be picked up when you get here to save some hassle and to make sure you get it all while your here. mainly the lift kit will be the issue.

what kind of dirt bikes are you getting? out of curiosity how much are bikes over there.

Ok then I have to do all the research regarding the gears, so i know whats what. Ive been in contact with jonathan from exalt motorsport. They will help me with the liftkit. The tires and wheels ill order from tirerack, if i dont find another alternative. But correct me if im wrong. To come as close to stock as possible, you have to run 4.88 gears with 37" tires?

Take care!

I believe the stock tires are 32's and stock ratio is 3.73. If this is the case, 4.30's would give you the same RPM/speed figures. Being that you can't get 4.30's for the front axle, get 4.56's.

he's going to 37's not 35's. 37= 4.88 NOT 4.56

yes, for 4wd to operate you need matching gear sets front and rear. if you only regear the rear and engage 4wd alot of carnage will take place.

probably a couple of yamaha YZ450F. they cost 8000$ in the US, and around 14000$ in sweden.

Welding and metalwork. everything from custom stainless parts to trucks (Scania, Volvo etc) to construction welding. Were the big truck is gonna come in handy is when we have to go far out in the woods, were there are no roads. We have turned down a bunch of weldingjobs on these places just because we basicly cant get there with our standard workcar(about 10" groundclarance)

but then again, the truck is mostly for me im 6'6 270ibs and for me it doesnt look right driving a small volvo. thats why I want a pretty big truck

well its about 12 at night here, so ill call it a day.
thanks for the replies fellas

PM FX4LIFE. He had 4.88 and switched to 4.56 when he had to get the rear end repaired...I think he is enjoying the 4.56's better.

Can't remember if he has 37 or 38's, but either way it's not too much of a difference.
