adding ambient temp sensor to 05 stx with 08 fx4 cluster??

hey new to the forum check out my sig for my truck not sure how to post pics yet but my question is has anyone added the ambient temp sensor to an 05 stx? i bought a fx4 cluster on ebay out of an 08 and am waiting for it in the mail but was wondering if my trucks prewired and all i would need is the temp sensor located up front by the hood latch and the reprogram for the cluster and good to go or wat? and if this is possible do i have to enter the as built data from my stx into the fx4 cluster or as built from a truck with the outside temp in it? i have read a lot of info on this already but havent found much on the temp sensor.. also i want all the chimes and interior lighting and what not to still work like it does now so im worried about what as built data would need to be entered in order to get the outside temp to work. also do i need the auto dim/compass mirror for this feature to work? cause i could care less about a compass..and for the mileage reprograming i have found that a place in madison heights michigan works best? forget exactly the name of the shop some1 help me out here or if someone knows a better place?? thanks guys

It is not just plug and play to swap an instrument cluster on these newer trucks. You have to go to the dealer to have them configure the dash. I tried this on my truck and learned it does not work. My interior lights and stereo would flash on and off.

The dealer can find the instructions in the Service Manual at 413-00-1. I have not installed my FX4 dash in my XLT because the local dealer (25 miles away) wants to charge my $95 to configure the dash if I install it. I live way in the country, so I need to get to a big city and find a dealer to do it for $50 or less.

Edit: It will plug in not problem, just won't work.

Yea I know the cluster needs the as built data flashed into it just not sure if my vin would work with the temp sensor or not when going to program the as built. Or do I need to use an xlt or fx4 as built because those had the temp option as my STx doesn't. Also is all the wiring there in my truck minus the outside temp sensor mounted under the hood latch?
