2005 Ford F150 5.4 3v fuel injector stuck open

Last week i dropped my truck off at my local Ford dealership. The truck was running very rough and the check engine light was on, and a few times the light was flashing. The service advisor called and said they hooked the truck up and it showed a misfire in cylinder 7. He said I needed a new plug and COP. He also stated my service records showed that I had the original plugs in and at 82,000 suggested they all be changed. I told him to go ahead I new this dreaded day was coming. He called back on Thursday and said after the plug change it still wasn't running right. It showed bad compression in cylinder 7 and asked for permission to investigate further. I told them to go ahead. They called back and said they found a fuel injector to cylinder 7 stuck open. They also said that it would be covered under the extended warranty on my fuel injectors. They called back today and said they would be putting in a new short block and that cylinder 7 had a bent connecting rod. My question is when I get this back in a little over a week will my truck run like new and will I probably be charged for the plug change and cop? I really dont know much about these engines and should I be worried about other potential problems that could arise from the injector stuck open?

I went through this same deal with my 05 5.4, stuck injector, hydrolocked engine, broken rod, new short block. All damage that was caused by the bad injector and all related repairs were covered. The only thing I paid for was to have the other 7 injectors replaced.

Truck still runs like a champ.

Pay them for the new plugs and cop, those aren't covered and you agreed to a plug change.

should I be worried about other potential problems that could arise from the injector stuck open?
Pay them to replace the other 7 injectors with the improved ones that don't leak.

Stealth and glc, thank-you for your replies. glc, you have helped me greatly with your answear regarding payment of the plugs and cop. I've been blessed with the care my dealership has given me. I would hate to ruin our relationship by bringing this up. I hope in the end my truck runs great again!
Any questions I should be bringing up to them regarding my injector issue?

I don't think it would ruin the relationship if you ask them about cutting you some sort of deal to replace the other injectors. The official program does not cover the injectors until they actually fail, it's not a recall.

My dealer had me just pay for the cost of the injectors only since they had it all apart anyway.

Pretty amazing Ford will only pay for the failed injector (which could cause expensive repairs 7 additional times), than just do the right thing and replace all seven. So Ford extending the warranty is really giving you a crap option.

If their known bad injectors cause a problem, ultimately you pay to have the remaining replaced, or face a huge inconvenience multiple times in the future. Its really a crap deal when you dig into it...

It's perfectly logical to me. They are a business and why replace something that is functioning properly? That's plain stupid.

What's the part no. for the original injectors? IIRC, Ford changed suppliers mid-05? Just wondering how you would know before hand if you had the bad injectors or not?

My 05 has an 11/04 build date and it had the bad injectors. You know yours are bad when they fail. :o

Boy, there seems to be a rash of these with forum members lately. I have got roughly another 20K miles to go before the warranty runs out on the injectors. I am almost hoping it will happen now. :o

I've noticed that as well. Glad mine went at around 70,000 or so IIRC.
