Silverstars in headlights or Foglights?

I want to install a set of Silverstar ultras in my 05, after some reasearch I see some guys are installing the 9005's in the foglights with success. (seeing as mine is an 05, it has the rectangle fog lights so I dont have to worry about the bulb melting the housing. I know installing in BOTH would be the best, but right now I only want to buy 1 set. Which would be more beneficial? The foglights or headlights? I do 70% of my driving in the city, but when I do go out of town, I am usually in deer country where the extra distance light is -much needed. Any suggestions?

I suggest headlights. The driving "fog" lights would not add as much benefit as your actual headlights will.

You can only get one set... They don't make the H13 in the ultra.

I have Silverstars in both my headlights and foglights. While the foglights do make a nice difference, I would definitly do the headlights first.

Let me tell you something from personal experience. Slap a set of 9005's in the fogs as your first move. (I know, that's not the recommended bulb, but they fit.) They will make more of a difference that anything you can put in the headlights. You simply will not believe the difference.

Unfortunately, better bulbs in the round fogs on the newer trucks (like my present 2010) do virtually nothing.

Like the above posts says "put a set of 9005's in your fogs and you can use them as headlights" I sometimes drive with just my fogs on....

Will these 9005s work OK in round fogs?

This is what I was hoping to hear seeing as I rarely use my foglights, it would be nice to have the option for added light & maybe they will last longer than the 1 year on average that people are getting out of them seeing as I will only be running them when I really need them.

Don't bother... you will most likely melt your fog... 9005 is safe in the 04-05 because of the huge fog size. The rounds are just too small

I have the 9145 in my fogs and they're a lot brighter than what was in it before. Very rarely do I use high beams because they don't make that big of a difference now.

Ran them in my '04 rectangular fogs, and have had them in my '06 round fogs for over a year now with NO issues, and a very definate increase in light. Like I said, I can drive at night with just my fogs on.
