Where is it mounted? What does it look like? This is the 1st I have heard of this, but could be the answer.

Never have read of this issue before ...
... but I know my '07 Scab 6.5 Flareside has a big *** heavy looking weight bolted with some rubber isolators over top the rear end of the left side frame rail. I assume it has something to do with some harmonics issue that Ford found.

Like that pair of weights welded onto the 30" long intermediate pipe section between the Y and muffler iof the exhaust system?

edit:

Also, check all bed-frame bolts.

Back in 1971 a buddy's parents bought a new '71 Pontiac GTO and they let him borrow it some. It had some issues in the rear as well. Their older '65 GTO he had didn't do it. One day while cruising we had a flat on the left rear and that car had a bumper jack. So he's loosening lugs as I'm jacking, and I keep jacking, and soon I notice the exhaust pipes on the left is not coming up and then the left rear corner of the frame is poking out into view.

The bumpers on that car were bolted to the body, unlike his '65. There was a missing frame to body bolt on that corner. We finally got the car high enough to change the tire.

Thanks for the info. This is a big issue there are many posts about on this forum and others.

But no one seems to have a solution, or the part number for this dampner kit.

My 05 SCREW FX4 bed bounces too. When I got it it had pro comp mud terrains and aftermarket wheels so I found a used set of FX4 wheels and bought Nitto terra grapplers 305/60/18. I also put rancho rs5000's on the rear. Like an earlier poster, I still have the bounce/shake when I drive it cold and it's only around 50-55mph. It shakes like crazy and slowly goes away. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!

OK Here is a video of what I am talking about. You will see when I set the camera on the bed rail, how much it jiggles when I drop the tailgate. On the road this jiggle is amplified and carries all thru the cab.

Dude you need to grab a ratchet and start tightening some body/bed mount bolts. That shake is ridiculous.

Have you checked all those bed bolts?

That is a heavy tailgate and even with the assist springs a lot of "jerk" on the cables wich do stretch a hair when dropped. I've never dropped my '07's tailgate and looked at vibrations.

My older '77 has a hinged pair of steel stips that don't stretch when it drops, I have dropped it many times. It's solid.

its normal. i know you dont want to hear that. but it is. we had quite a few people complain about that when the new body came out in 04. and i own an 04, bought it new. so i know what you are talking about. ford tried a fix by making available a 10lb wieght to bolt to the rear frame rail, hoping the extra wieght would dampen the shake. it didnt work. i installed that wieght on several trucks and the owners still complained. we had one guy with an fx4 and an attitude that was very persistant about the issue. we went as far as to remove the bed and inspect the frame and bed mounting just to try and satisfy him. we were driving the truck minus the bed with our district field engineer watching the frame move looking for anything abnormal., in the end it was determined to be normal due to the frame design. there was a service message about it, but i just ran my vin through oasis and there isnt any message about it anymore. its not a defect in your truck, some aftemarket shocks may change it, i dont know. i dont worry about it, so the truck has some character. they are still the best trucks on the market

not all trucks are the same. some trucks shake more than others. im just passing along info from my experience working with this concern in the dealer when the 04's came out. bottom line is added weight to the rear of the vehicle after the axle helps reduce the shake. its not that there is something wrong with the truck. its stems from the design of the frame and chasis, this is info i got from ford tech line and our field engineer. what you need to do is have someone drop your gate open like you are doing in the video while you look for the origin of the shake. is the suspension holding still and the tires are bouncing on the side walls, is it the leaf springs or shackles that continue to move, are the shocks moving. something has to be moving, its a game of elimination. put the rear of the truck on jack stands, under the axle. weight of the truck on the axle, tires off the ground. does it still shake, this will eliminate tires, have a friend stand in the bed while you open the gate, is it still there. my truck has done this since day one and 85,000 miles later it still does it and no ill effect on the truck. i accepted its a characterstic and left it at that. if you feel otherwise, thats ok. i have talked with alot of f150 owners that felt that way as well. spend some time and see if you can resolve your shake issue. you could end up being the one that helps other solve their shake concern as well.

I was ordering a hitch for a friend on his 07 screw and the salesman asked if the truck had a vibration dampener, I asked what the @#*l is that! he said in 06-up Ford installed a dampener on some of the trucks! so I asked where would it be so I can check! He said in the rear by the frame, you will know it when you see it! and ive noticed alot of different variations of factory hitches on same trucks but different years, this makes me think that thier is some kind of dampener on some trucks but I have yet to see one!

I do know this isnt anything new to the auto industry because in the 60's and 70's vibration dampeners where in alot of full size 4 door sedans, they where in the trunks!

something to think about!
