Rear Wheel bearing seal

What part number or even size will i need on a 2004 4x4 lariat? or do i need to find out what gearing it has etc? Sorry if its something obvious there just seems to be different sizes on Rock Auto.

Or how can i find out?

Cheers

depends on what engine you have, but yes I think there are 3 different sizes.

Quintin did a write up on how to do the seal install, and i believe there is discussion in that thread about what axles get what size.

very first pic, underneath he has all the parts listed. if u have a lariat u have a 5.4, and i can almost guarantee u have a 9.75 axle.

axle seals themselves p/n 5L3Z-1S177-AB
axle bearings p/n 5L3Z-1225-AA

i have a lariat 5.4. with a 9.75/3.73 rear end and those are exactly what i used.

All 4.6's have 8.8, most 5.4's have 9.75. Some 5.4's have 10.25, those are the ones with 7 lug wheels.
