Resale Value

Im wondering , do you think it would hurt your resale value to a lift a 2wd truck if you ever wanted to sell it ? Im thinking of lifting mine and im just wondering if i ever want to sale it to a private party and not a dealership if it would hurt the price alot ?

It wouldn't hurt it as long as you don't beat it up. To a dealer aftermarket parts don't help nor worsen the resale value. Because with some people that customize their vehicle it can make it harder to sell because of the buy must want exactly what's on the truck. Some people know how to make some sick vehicles but there are some other there that make eye sores.. But that's with everyones own opinion.

You can always sell it if you would like to. Just the more mods you do it the vehicle can either help out your chance of selling it or worsen your chance. The mods itself on the vehicle doesn't really increase the price of the vehicle. It can to the right person but to dealers it only helps them out more.

Really, no offense to anyone here but give these trucks 3 or 4 years and they dont have any resale value.

- So really... it a lift cant hurt.

I suppose it depends on WHEN you plan on trading it in. It is already 6 years old, so you can't expect too much for resale/trade.

As others metioned above, you'll limit your buyer audience once you lift it. I know Carmax will stay clear of any aftermarket suspension mods.

IMO there's two ways to look at it: Down the road for resale or present day enjoyment. Each day you postpone lifting it for resale concerns, is one day you loose enjoying your lifted truck.

It will hurt the value if you try to trade it in to a dealer - but it may help if you are trying to sell it to some dumb kid.

This is my first vehicle and it took me a while to get it, im getting my license next week and i really want to do as much as i can to my little truck. I could have got a 4wd but it would have been a single cab and i needed a little more room and a super cab 4wd would have been about 16k . 4k more then what i payed for mine.

I dont think its a bad thing lifting a 2wd for looks but alot of people dont like lifted 2wd just because its 2wd but half the times you cant tell a difference. I know ill have this truck for atleast 6-7 years so i dont think nothing bad could come from lifting it. I mean i wouldnt take a nice 4wd up in the middle of the weeds and get it scratched and banged up anyway . I have a lifted bronco for fourwheeling i just like the looks of the lift,

There's actually a lot of people on here that have lifted 2WD's I think I'm going to keep mine stock because I like it's stance right now. But it's your truck do what you want. Don't care what other people say. People pick on me for buying a Fx2 but I knew I wasnt going to be going mudding or driving it during the winter so why would I need 4WD. Plus I never used 4WD when I had one.

It would be rather harder to sell but you never know you might find someone that wants a lifted truck just for it's looks. If you want to pull the trigger on it go ahead.

or you could just remove it when it comes time to sell the truck and put the stock suspension back on. then you could sell the lift for a little extra cash and get pretty much the same if not more for the truck...

haha, why thank you.

id say go for it!!! thats what i want, just dont have the money... get it though and just throw all your stock parts in a corner of the garage. (think i saw a post about you trying to sell your stock radio. might want to keep this same concept in mind. would you pay $500 more for a truck with a fancy stereo? more likely you would buy the truck then buy a stereo for $500. just a thought...)
