New 2010..doesnt like taking gas...

A few months ago I purchased a new 2010 f 150..the other day when I went to get gas, the pump kept shuting off only after a few cents, and I knew I wasn't full I was at a quarter of a tank.It took me almost 20 minutes to put in $40 with it constantly shutting off...so I thought maybe something was messed up with the vent or something. I took it to the mechanics and they have no idea what it is, the vent it working passed the pressure test..has this happened to anyone else, or has anyone heard of this happening?

This has happened in my 05', only a couple times tho. Might have been the pump, does it happen with all pumps or only that one time?

Used to happen on my old bronco. Try backing the nozzle out about an inch.

yes it happens at all pumps...it doesn't matter how far you pull the nozle out, the only way you can get it to take gas is if you barly push the trigger for gas...which ends up being a very long time.....

Did they actually take the vent tube off and make sure it was free of any obstructions?

The vent tube cannot have any dips allowing fluid to become trapped....that right there will cause the pump to trip.

Have them vhrck the canister purge valve. Can be bad and still pass tests... Just had one replaced on an explorer, only cost 200 bucks

Happens to the Chevy dump truck at work all the time. I just pull the nozzle out farther and pull the lever slowly to control the gas flow and not let it click off. After about 20 seconds, it usually pumps normally. This has never happened to my Ford though.

I had that problem once also. I got mad and went to a different station. Never had the problem again.

I'm pretty sure that's just a typo and he meant to say check.
