Thinking about getting a 04 screw lariat lifted! PICS

Hey guys new here, what do you guys think about an 04 screw lariat for 16,500. Here is his description.
65K miles leather, sun roof, power rear glass, flow master exhaust, edge chip, brand new rims and tires, 3 inch fabtech lift, cd changer, subs, and amp, new truck box, bedliner, tow package, all lights inside and out have been replaced with LED non smoker, no off road, perfect condition $8k in upgrades

When he says subs and amp, that is the factory upgraded stereo from ford. What can you guys tell me about that? How many watts?

What generally go wrong with these trucks..I have herd something about cam phasers? What kind of mileage do you expect me to get?

Any other useful information would be great..thanks!

Looks real clean man,

As far as the Phasers go do some searching. I dont know a lot about that. As far as gas mileage it can really depend. Those look like 33's?? Maybe around 15... And I am being optimistic. Lots of guys can squeeze good mileage out of their trucks. YMMV.

65k on an 04? Pretty decent Id say

Justin

I wouldnt spend 16,500 on an '04 even if it does only have 65k on it. the price should be lower with all the aftermarket stuff added to it.

Ok, well I have compared this to many other trucks and it seems to be a good deal.
Also I was trying to find the 3 in fabtech lift online and I couldn't. DO you think he is talking about a body lift? What kind of lift do you think he has? Like what is used upfront and back

It's a leveling kit and an add a leaf in the rear most likely from fabtech.

It's not a "bad" price if it's everything you would have done to the truck yourself if you bought a stock one. I paid less for my 06 with slightly lower miles and leather/loaded with a center console but missing the sunroof.

It's only money, if you want it buy it. I'd change plugs in it immediately though before they go any longer and run more risk of breakage.

As far as i know, fabtech doesnt make body lifts. It is probably just a fabtech leveling kit with a rear block. If your serious, theres a few things to check/consider -

1. get under the truck and examine the underbody, look for signs of offroading - bent parts, rusted out brake lines, etc.

2. spark plugs are a big issue on the truck, get him to change the spark plugs prior to the deal regardless of the last time they were changed unless he can provide documentation on it.

3. Check all of the window switches and make sure they work. The motors failing is a common problem.

4. Check the 3rd brake light for signs of leaking as this is another common problem.

I'm probably forgetting some, hopefully others will chime in and add on to my list!

spark plugs.... see if he has changed them and if not maybemight want to make a deal on those... cause it is kinda pricey and needs to be done, i have a 04 lariet with 116k miles on it now, love it... other issue is cam phasers i haven't had a issue with that either and then your exhaust manifold bolts usually break off but it isn't to bad to fix, all in all i would say it is a way clean truck and seems right for the money, but still always try and talk him down lol.. and ask about plugs don't forget that...

Not yet, It would be on saturday if I did. Not sure if I can get him down any more on price. He is hesitant on 16,500. He had it listed at 19,800

im not seeing 8k in upgrades at all...the most expensive things are the wheels and tires and those combined are about 2k. seems about right for an 04 for my area, but if these are the things you want on your truck already then it may be worth it to you. Also the area makes a huge difference on the value of a truck, If I were to look up an 04 where I live 16k will not be the highest and that would be for a stock truck. Many people say that the extras add no value to a truck, but I disagree kinda... it doesnt add value if you are trading it in to a dealer, they would rather have a stock vehicle but if you are selling it privately and the buyer wants a lift and tires and all the good stuff already on it then yes it makes a difference. If I could have bought my truck the way it sits right now then hell yea I would have paid alittle more for it.

edit: I just looked up KBB for that truck in my area and in excellent condition says its valued at $20,380 - Good =$19,500 - Fair= $18,200

So if it was in my area im thinking its a good deal. But good luck, I say get it.

I got my 04 with 160k miles on it for $11,500. It was completely stock besides the rear dvd entertainment system and the ranch hand. This sounds like a really good deal to me for all the mods it has on it. Thats just my opinion though...
