Question noob with a few questions

So I am new to this forum on a few motorcycle forums but this is my first real car/truck forum. I am picking up a 2007 F-150 4x4 XLT 5.4L V8 for $9500 beginning of January. My dad is hooking me up since he never drives it and just wants to pay it off - and with me going to Alaska I am going to need it more than him.

I want to go with 35'' tires and 18 inch rims with a 6'' suspension lift. I am trying not to break the bank and if I could spend under $4000 for everything it would be nice. I am going to install the kit myself with a buddy so that will save me a lot of money in the long run.

Question is:

Being that I am driving from NY to Alaska what kind of gas mileage should I expect with this set up? I know stock gets 16mph HWY but I know its going to drop down a bit. I am not looking for super swamper's I just want a tire that has the ability for recreational off roading but daily driving.

With my 295/70/18's and my Gryphon programmer, I can get 15-17 on the interstate. Around town I range 12-13 maybe a little more depending on how I drive. Not sure how much the lift will affect you (if any, other than added weight) - so I would expect you could average around 15 accounting for hills and what not that I typically do not have to deal with. Good luck with your setup, make sure to post pics. Welcome to the site.

Oh btw I have 373 gears, if you have 355 that may change it a little.

The lift also kills aerodynamics. With 35's, you will need to regear or you will get bad mileage and the power will be down.

I'd be surprised if you got more than 13 or 14 with a lift and those tires if it's getting 16 stock.

wait, are you just driving it from ny to alaska to move there and leave it? or will there be return trips back to ny? If your just driving it to your new home, why not wait to install the lift and new tires out there and road trip with the stock stuff on it?

Regear front and rear is about $1600 parts and labor.

yeah 4 wheel parts told me its not really necessary on my model..if need be then get a software that will tap the fuel injection to change the ratio around

They're trying to sell you a lift. A programmer can improve drivability, but cannot change gear ratios. All it can recalibrate your speedometer. You need to re-gear with 35s, or be prepared to drive a gas guzzling slug. Been there, done that.

Theres a semi write up. Its for more experienced guys and shoudlnt be tackled by those who arent prepared.

You could be alright with a 4in and 33's.

Personally I can get 15mpg average with 325/65/18's, a ford performance exhaust, GOTTS mod, and Edge Evo CS. Its going to suck mileage wise... Its a freaking truck..

yeah of course i know but driving from NY to AK I want to salvage what I can as far as MPG - so I might just go with a 4.5'' lift w/ 35'' tires and 17'' rims w/ a 4.10 front and rear gear ratio to help out a bit - is differential required for the ring and pinion replacement?

So just bought a 6'' pro comp lift kit with a sick rebate paid $1707 shipped and get a $400 rebate back from pro comp...buying the Mickey Thompson Sidebiters since everyone has the rockstar rims even though i like how they look - only bad part is they only go up to 17 inch rims but it saves me almost $600.
