04-08 Acura TL + ZKW Lense Projector Retrofit

Well, After 2 years I've finally had enough of my crappy OEM headlights. And being I can't get an aftermarket pair that perform better, I'm just going to build a set myself. If I was going to do this, it was all the way and big. 3" Projector big. After looking around I found a pretty good price on a pair out of an Acura TL with 3" Aspherical Lenses. To top it off they offered a free set of clear "ZKW" Lenses. The factory lenses have "frenzels" in the lense to blur the cutoff transistion and to normalize any hotspots. With clear lenses, you get an ultra sharp cutoff and with a little tweeking, a multicolored effect at the transistion line above the cutoff. I'll take as many pics as I can. Will be starting this project sat night after this snowfall. Why drive an 88 Pontiac Bonivill in the snow if you have a 4x4? I've already mocked up one of the shrouds. Went with some knock off Posche's, the Apollo's. Should give it more of a factory look.

Made some good progress today. Man those headlights are a PITA to take apart. Was able to get the projector test fit. Unfortunatly, to get it to fit and look the way I want, I'm going to have to take the plasma cutter to my radiator support. On the positive side, Its looking pretty good!

That looks good! How much does it stick out the back? Any pictures of the back?

I've got one mostly done. Cant go much farther untill I get my radiator support moded. So I'll start rippng apart the other headlight and working on the shrouds and solinoid covers. I'm also using a laser to set my starting angle.

How far is the shroud from the front clear lens. It looks to be 1/2-3/4 inch into the support? Looking good so far! The second light will go by fast.

The shroud is 1\8 to 3\16 from the lens. Yea I was think about 3\4. Prolly have to take an inch out for good measure. But that will have to wait till next weekend. Need to drive truck to work on radiator support. So I'll have to make sure I'm home well before dark. Yes, the second light should go much faster.

This is awesome! Acura TLs have one of the best HID projector systems on the road period, this should turn out beautiful.

No real progress as of yet. working on fitting up the other headlight and modding the shrouds. Hopfully it doesn't snow too much on saturday so I can drive my headlightless truck 30 miles to my shop so I can mod the radiator support. Things should progress pretty fast after that.

Subbed. Definitely keep us updated. Sorry if you already mentioned this, but are you going to paint them or keep them chrome?

I still cant make up my mind. I don't know who's truck this is, But I think it one of if not THE nicest f150 I've seen. I love his painted headlights. But when I picture the projectors in there its a love it hate it thing. I dunno.
