2006 F150 Won't Start (Problem with Anti-theft?)
Hi there!
I have a 2006 F150 that intermittantly starts from time to time. The longest it has worked for has been about 8 months before the problem crops up again. (In the last month the vehicle started up once). When the key is turned the red light on top of the dash stays on and pulses rapidly. On the instrument panel various indicators light up and "Check Gauges" appears on the display at the bottom right. A beep is heard that sounds about every 2 seconds. The dealer suspects that the anti-theft system is going wonky and that it is preventing the engine from starting. He says it will need to be checked by a Ford tech with the right diagnostic tools, and reprogrammed. Originally I was asked to bring the vehicle in (not possible as the vehicle is located on an island in the High Arctic) so the other alternative is to fly a tech in (extremely expensive)! Is there a more economical solution to this problem? I came across this article that seems to be similar to my situation. Any thoughts on obtaining a by pass module that will resolve this problem? If so what module would be suitable for a 2006 F150? Or maybe it's something else altogether? Would love a second, third or fourth opinion! :) Thanks! |
If you have another key try that first, the chip in your regular key could be going. Then if that works get another key made.
