Supercharger rather then regear for 37's?
I've been back and forth on what lift what size tires etc...
Everyone that says go 4 you'll want 6 go 6 you'll want 8 makes allot of sence. So I'm thinking if I do it. I'll go 8 inch BDS with 37's. Right now I have 35's with a level kit and 3.73's Rather then regearing to 4.56's or more. Would a supercharger help enough and allow me to keep the 3.73's? Or could I get away with 3.73 and 37's being that I mostly use the truck on road and for some towing. I drive 35 miles each way 5 days a week for work. |
i think it would be hard on the tranny if you didnt re-gear.

You'll cut into the 3.73's real bad with 37's. Hard on the tranny and you'll be lugging the engine by dropping it out of the power band. Go with 4.56 or 4.88 gear's and make the truck happy!

Yea re-gearing is def the answer here, however throwing a SC on with those 4.56/4.88 would be a nasty combination.

Agreed. BUT out of the two options and knowing more about these trucks i would go with the gears first. Your truck will be more happy about taking some of that stress off its tranny than throwing a SC on there. Because you know once you have it on there you wont want to take your foot off the pedal for awhile. |

If your looking to save money, then just regear the rear since you said its mainly on the road.

Im in a similiar situation. I have highon22s old truck. On 8in and 37s with the edge it doesnt ever search for the right gear and the trans never runs hotter then 145* I hardly ever tow and if I do its a small 5x8 utility trailer and a 4 wheeler. How long could I get away with not regearing?

If I remember correctly the TFT is not a true indication of the tranny temp as displayed by the edge. Its hard to say how long everything will hold up, some of it probably depends on your driving habits. Gears are cheaper than a tranny though, personally I would start saving.
