headlight lens question

I happen to notice on my headlight lens this past weekend that it looks like it has tiny cracks in it have any of you had this happen? they appear to be on the inside of the lens itself I'm curious if you think it could be from the HID's being to hot maybe??

all the little dots on the lens are the tiny cracks i'm talking about.

probably the HID bulb heating it intensely and the plastic cooling quickly

Are both lights the same ?? I don't think the HID bulbs are the culprit, the halogen bulbs get hot also. Possibly just a bad plastic lens that has deteriorated prematurely

I noticed the same problem after taking my hid kit out, i only had them in for a week and it was not there before, I believe the hid is getting too hot in the housing I wonder if others with hids have this problem.

Id guess that it could also be from road debris hitting the lights. I have had HIDs in ebay projectors for 4 years and mine look nothing like this.

I can't imagine the HID's heat output would be a problem. HID's require less watage then halogen bulbs meaning the should run cooler.

You would think others would have this problem cuz I know im not the only one tha lives in a cold area where the lights would cool off fast

I don't know what the temp difference is between halogen and HID. I would guess that a 35w HID wouldn't put out more heat than a 55w halogen.

I've heard of this happening when baking the headlights with to much heat to take them apart. Were you running 35W or 55W? and for how long?
