2006 F150 Lariatt - Cruise Control stopped working?
Hi,
I am hoping the community of experts here can help me out. I have a 2006 Lariatt Super Crew with the 5.4. I just noticed today that my cruise control no longer works. When I switch it on, the light on my dash doesn't illuminate and the controls don't work.
I have been searching the forum for about half an hour and can't seem to find the answer! My horn works (saw a bunch of threads about that) and my interlock switch tests out fine.
Any ideas??
Cheers,
Corey

Recently had the similar problem with a 2008 Ford Van. The cruise has worked fine up until about a week a go, then it stopped. Then it started again, then stopped. Continued to function intermittently. I finally was close to the dealer a few days ago when it wasn't working. They hooked up their magic computer that tests all of the different switches, sensors, etc. Discovered that the brake pressure switch was sticking occasionally. It was about a 15 minute fix.

Bump.
I have a 2002 F-150 and the other day my cruise stopped working and am leaving for a trip on Friday. At first the cruise light would come on very briefly but it wouldn't engage and now the light doesn't come on at all.
Is this something an OBDII scanner will help with or do I need to go to the dealer to have it assessed?

Seems that the soft rubber lamp sockets can't handle the heat that the bulbs generate. The bed lamp sockets on mine were cooked.
I picked up a new harness for a F250 3rd brake light and cut the sockets off of it and attached them to the F150 harness. The F250 sockets are made out of a different material.

I searched this sight, read many good tips. Here are my results. My cruise would not engage and diagnostic codes did not work. We noticed a post about third brake light and sure enough mine was out. $5 at the auto store and 10 mins later, we had the third brake light working. Headed down the road and cruise control now works like a champion. Thanks to everyone that posted their comments and tech tips. Very very helpful. I suggest you check this out first thing. It's the easiest, quickest and cheapest fix for me to date. Check your third brake light. If it is out and cruise not working, Ford has made this a "feature" to notify you to replace the bulb.
