Installing Bilstein 5100s

So I just got a pair of Bilstein 5100s. I am planning on getting them put in ASAP. I am going to do the rear ones my self.

My question to you guys is, how hard is it to do the front struts yourself? I know I can rent the spring compressor at Advanced Auto. But I am curious, how hard is it to do yourself?

How much would it be for a shop to do it? (how much do y'all think is reasonable?)

Thanks Guys

Getting the front struts in and out is not that difficult. You will need a good spring compressor because they are heavy springs. I put on an AS spacer in my garage with jacks and jack stands. You will just have to go the extra step of swapping the spring.

Is there anywhere that can show you how to do it?

Never seen anyone report a Bilstein strut swap, never found one in Tech & Article either, but I have seen a thread where someone removed the strut assemblies and took them to the dealer to directly swap out, he was out for door for about $50 or so, and got his alignment elsewhere.

I paid $184 for my dealer to do all the front strut work, and it was $40 for an alignment. My dealership charges pretty darn fairly from what I have compared to up here. $40 - $70 for alignment is very fair.

Oh yeah, its about time you got the kit man!

Figure $150 - $250 for the front.

Hmmm...I may try to do that

But then again if I'm gonna need an alignment too, I could get them to do it all

I gotta go around and ask how much to do it at our local shops
