2004 SC Lariat 4x4 - Opinions On Value?
2004 SC Lariat 4x4 - Opinions On Value?
i just bought my wife a new 2010 sc 4x4 lariat, and i'm considering selling her '04...i was going to give it to my daughter, but we're thinking that it may just be too much truck for her first vehicle and she's still 8 months from being 16 anyway.
i've checked on kbb and i've done some searches on craigslist, but most trucks are mostly stock and have higher mileage, so i figured that you guys would be able to help out on pricing.
here are the details on the truck:
2004 F150 Supercrew Lariat 4x4 loaded with everything that was available at the time (as far as i know anyway) with just under 49k miles:
2-tone paint (white with tan lower)
power moonroof
power rear slider
black leather interior (power seats)
digital dual zone climate control
reverse sensors (i have a reverse camera for it somewhere, but i never installed it...)
extra stuff:
tint
painted to match "Box Top" fiberglass bed cover (tonneu cover or whatever you call it)
Eclipse AVN5435 navigation system with Sirius sat radio
DynAudio components in the driver/passenger doors
Phoenix Gold replacements in the rear doors
Phoenix Gold (don't remember the model, but top of their line) single 10" subwoofer under the rear seat
Phoenix Gold amps (both top of their line but don't remember the model) (400/1 running the sub and 400/4 running the door speakers)
Pager alarm with remote start, long range fm transmitter, etc
Rear overhead 10.4" drop down lcd screen with dvd player and two cordless headphones
i also have all of the factory stereo stuff (6-disc in-dash stereo and speakers)
brand new Nitto Terra Grappler tires on factory 18" wheels...
I have a brand new set of Autospring 2.5" front spacers that I never installed, which can go with the truck...
here are the bad things:
1. the rear overhead lcd had some issues the last time i checked it, but it's a single piece unit, so it can't be that difficult to replace.
2. there is a mark on the moonroof door on the inside where the installer put too long of a screw on the rear lcd and it scratched the moonroof door when it was slid back. the issue was fixed, but i haven't replaced the fabric on the door...
3. it has a small dint and scratch on the top of the passenger fender where something flew up and hit it on the hwy. a paintless dent repair guy told me that it's an easy fix, so that will likely be fixed before i put it up on the market...
never wrecked, we bought it brand new, etc.
any ideas?
thanks,
brad

that was my originial thought, but i'm considering just buying her a new ranger or something like that when she turns 16...i'm thinking that this is just too much truck for her to start out with. 4-doors, 4x4, etc. i don't know, i still might keep it and give it to her, though...i still haven't made a concrete decision on the matter just yet.
i couldn't figure out how to post pics here, but i posted the same thread on dfwstangs with a few pics:

Practice makes perfect.
sounds like a nice truck (pics would help), with very low mileage. I would keep it and let her drive. just tell her to park in the back of parking lots and not try to squeeze into tight spots.
besides being very safe, another plus is that you have factory wheels, so a few curbs here and there won't be a big deal.

cool, yep - that is a nice truck. Selling it used, you probably won't get what its worth to you.

Just keep it and give it to your kid, the 04+ F 150's are the safest half tons on the road. If there happens to be a serious accident, she stands a much better chance to walk away driving the 150 than a prius or any other econobox.
i was actually thinking of getting her a new ranger or something like that...i'm not a big fan of putting her in a car, even though she's talked about wanting a vw bug.
