Question for you Ford Technicians

How many hours do you charge to pull and reinstall a head off of an '04-'08 5.4L?

Got an estimate from the dealer. 18 hours @ $95/hr.

Check with other dealers. I'd love to be able to quote and sell 'em for 18, but right now that ain't happening.

Last one I did on an earlier, Heritage body style truck, I think I sold for like 12.5, and I came out okay on that one. You have to go through a little more crap on an '04-'08 truck, so in my opinion, 14-15 is fair.

Thanks for the advice Quintin. I assumed all dealers would charge the same as far as hours per job and just the price may be different. I'll check around some other dealerships.

Not NECESSARILY Dihlon. On warrantee work the time is gonna have to come from the warrantee book, no doubt about it. When it's customer pay, all bets are off. They don't have to go by the flat rate book (especially not the warrantee flat rate book). Different dealers charge different times (because they can!) Different dealers even charge different prices for parts because the list price is only "suggested list". They are independent businesses so, except for what Ford is paying for, and dictates, they can charge anything they want to, and can get away with.
