Test: Spark Plug Removal using Impact Wrench
I have to change my spark plugs 69K miles and I'm going to test out the Impact Wrench method for changing them. Has anyone else tried this?
"Quintin - Lukewarm engine, loosen plugs a quarter turn or so, spray carb cleaner in the plug wells and let them sit for 10-15 minutes. I use a fresh battery in my Snap-on 3/8" cordless impact, and go. Hammer on them and don't stop until they come out."
This method makes the most sense to me as I think an impact wrench would shock them loose. I'm going to try to change them this week using the above instructions.
Question - Does anyone in the Pittsburgh, Pa area have a broken spark plug extraction tool that I could borrow if I do break one or all of the? ha ha Or would anyone be willing to send one to me to borrow?
Please PM me - thank you

3/8 in, rechargeable.... Not the Gorilla model either. You don't want to RIP it out of the head. If it's TOO powerful, it's no different than using an air impact- heck, if power was the issue, you could just use a 1in. air impact and the head would come off with the plugs!

I'll be using this - what I have

I'm thinking I don't really want to remove them fast- but I want to impact the hell out of them in the process to break that lower part free.

There has been at least one other member other than Quintin, so not the first. I suspect a lot of techs use this method. You go to a dealership and they have it done in 2 hours. How can an engine cool down and them take all the time to soak and back off on each plug? I suspect a lot use their cordless impact.
