Kind of Sorta Chickend Out ...
I kind of sorta chickened out, but have decided to go through with it. I have and appointment tomorrow morning at the tire shop. They are going to install the spacers and re-align the front end for $200.00
My place of business offered their garage this weekend, I took the truck there with the intent of installing the lift, but could not get the lower sway bar nut off the bottom of the lower control arm. I got the nut broke loose but it just spun after that. It took forever to get it to re-tighten, I had to put a small wrench on the stud part of the threads and take an 18mm wrench to restart the nut. I then re-torqued to 66ft. lbs. and packed it all up and headed home. I'll take some pics tomorrow after I pick the truck up sometime after lunch and post them here in the evening. I'm not going to change the wheels or tire sizes, I just wanted some of that factory rake gone and a little more leveled out. |
good luck to ya, make sure and post the before and after if you can.

Thanks!
Thanks, and no problem ... I'll try and park the truck in the same spot in the drive way and take new pictures, then place them side by side for comparison.

After it's leveled these truck's beg for larger tires! Some 285x70x17 AT or MT's would work great on the stock wheels. Check 'em out at the tire shop :D

PawPaw
thanks PawPaw, everytime I see your name I think of my Son ... He calls his Grandfather "PawPaw".
I may eventually place larger tires on there, but only when these wear out. I was thinking of a 265 or 275 ... You think that would look some better. N |

I really like the look of your truck, its clean and not over-done. I just got through viewing all 60 of your pictures. Loved them all.
Well, I'm a late starter ... I played around in the Navy for awhile, then came back to NC ... didn't get married till 35 and now i'm 40 with a great 2.6 year old young man. Probably going to be a little bit until I can get some grand children to help out; wait a second mine wont be to many more years until he can help out. Anyway, thanks for your input ... Jonathan |
I had the same problem when installing my leveling kit. Some of the bolts just spun. I figured out that you have to have tension on the sway bar or control arm for the bolt to continue to spin. So, I had to push down on the control arm and loosen the bolt at the same time.

After the Install of the Auto Spring 1.5" Spacers

Here is a Before & After ...
|
Holy cow, looks like that thing went up 3". That is the thing that scares me about getting a leveling kit. 1.5" would be the largest I go but now Im thinking that might even be too high....I might have to go with a 1"!!!

Big difference, look's great! Get some aggressive looking tires on the stock wheels to fill in the wheelwells and it will look even better. Thank's for the compliment's on my truck. Have over 80k miles on it and it still runs great.
