Spark plug pics

Just had mine changed at the dealership, 49,000 miles.

Pretty obvious why my truck was misfiring so bad.

All in one piece. :) Those plug gaps look pretty large.

You have no idea.

Yes all in one piece. I was very impressed considering some of the horror stories I had heard in here. Would have charged me $40/plug if any broke and that was my biggest concern taking it in.

The second plug in from the left has so much stuff built up on it I suspect that may have been the culprit along with the large gaps also.

Since I haven't done the change I can't get my head around exactly where the plugs are breaking. Any chance you can show me or describe it in the picture above? I curious.

The part that has the deposits in the image separate from the next piece with the threads. The hole in the head for the electrode shield is too close a tolerence when the deposits are on it, and upon removal it sometimes separates from the rest of the plug.

If you are not, I would suggest buying gas that has a good detergent, such as Texaco, Shell, and Chevron.

How many miles? Mine had 65,500 and did not look near that bad.

Fred06FX4 02-19-2010 11:30 PM

I think the only gas station out of those three we have here are shell....have started using BP though, says it is recommended on the gas cap. Is BP gas any good or does Ford just get a kickback from BP for putting it on there?

glc 02-20-2010 03:50 AM

BP is not "top tier" gas but it's good gas. However, BP owns Arco and that's garbage.

Sounds like this is my problem. Off and on mine will stumble while jumping on it...

have 65, 5xx on the truck
