CB Radio Pics Please

Who has them out there and whats your set up? I would like to see pics of where you mounted the CB and also your antenna set up. I like my buddies setup in his tacoma and just want one now . Im thinking of mounting it on my overhead rail system so its kinda out of the way but also can just reach up and grab the mic and talk. Also whats the best brands out there and how much am i looking at spending? I dont care if its not set up to work right now. I might just buy the radio to have it for the looks on the inside till i get it all wired up

Thanks Guy :beers:

I think Wilsons are pretty good antennas. I don't have any pictures, but I will try to get some tomorrow of how I have my antenna mounted.

Basically I made my own bracket, just a piece of flat stock bent in an L. Mounted the antenna to it and mounted that bracket on the front driver side corner of my bed. Ran the cable down through that round hole there and up into the cab. The cb is just loose, but I'm throwing around the idea of making my own flow through center console with a bit of a switch panel on it where I will be able to mount the cb (hopefully I can get measurements tomorrow and do a mock up in solidworks)

My radio is a Uniden, which is the side brand of Cobra. It's basically a Cobra 29 with a different shell. Depending on how much you want to spend Galaxy are probably the best cb's out there, cobra 29's are pretty good for a decent one but not super expensive.

Like I said I will try to get you some pictures of my mount tomorrow afternoon.

depends what type of f150 you have ( lariat, xlt etc ) But I put mine on the floor and the antenna opposite of the radio anntena, even with the little angle so it matches( and by me I mean my dad)

Kinda hard to see the anntenna but give you an idea

I thought about mounting it like you, but I'm trying to find a place to have ease of access but where it doesn't stand out so much. I had considered in the overhead bin, but I have a big uniden so it's to large to fit up there.

truth is most of the radios are the same regradless of the price. as long as the antenna is good and tuned properly your gonna have a good setup as theyre all gonna send out the same voltage.

ive got a 4ft firestik antenna and a midland radio. with pics

I ve had good luck with my galaxy I stuck on my dash in the middle doesnt go anywhere, and I also run a monkey made antenea inthe front corner of my bed.

I have an FX4 05 so I have the center shift console. I was thinking about mounting it on top the dash in the middle but thought that might look kinda tacky. I like the idea of putting it on the side of the center console but would rather have it on the overhead rail system if I could. I think it would look a lot better up there and kinda hidden. Plus it has the hole in roof so I can run all the wiring through there. But keep the pics coming guys

This is my Cobra 29 LTD BT.

I had a Wilson SW2000 in the photo but couldnt get the SWR low enough, now I have a Magnet Wilson 1000 and it works 10 times better then any of the 5 other antenna set ups I have had.

Pretty cool all the different installation styles in this thread. Here's my Cobra 29. Had a 4' firestik on the roof but going to change over to a smaller wilson here soon.

Where did you get the mounting bracket for the CB?

Impact9 02-21-2010 09:31 AM

Who?

My brackets I stole from my kids erector set. I could probably just bend some out of 1/16 steel but these little toy pieces are very strong and they wasn't using them anyways.

Oh ok, looks like I will be visiting Home Depot to install mine like that when I replace the stock stereo.
