09+ OEM trailer brake controller in 04-08

Has anyone attempted to furnish and install a 09+ oem trailer brake in an 04-08 f150? I dont see why it wouldnt work. I know there's no real place to put it, but there's not any real place to put the aftermarket ones either. I have some ideas on a location to mount the oem model.

Does anyone see or know of any reason this wouldn't wire right up to my existing tow package wires?

Not sure if it will work or not. My truck has the tow package and when I bought my brake control it came with a bracket that snapped neatly into another bracket that was already in my truck under the dash on the drivers side. I plugged it in and had it working in less than five minutes. I got the control at Autozone I think?

Yeah I know its dirty but hunting season just ended and turkey season is just around the corner!

Yea Scott, my buddy has the same type of controller. Im real picky about my truck, im going for an OEM look. I would love to convert an oem unit, (maybe even a superduty controller) to work in the 04-08 f150's. To take this task a bit further, maybe even upfitter switches.

I forget mine is there most of the time it isnt that noticable. I haven't seen what the new OEM look like. My guess would be that they would work. Even though Ford updated the body style some it is basically the same platform and I doubt the wiring would be much if any different for the brake control.

i thought the 09+ controllers were integrated into the abs system and all...thats the biggest issue i see happening. im pretty sure its much more integrated than the simple plug thats under the dash now in our 04-08s. but thats just my guess.

On the 2010's, they moved the readout to the gauge cluster, so where it is on the 09's it say's "Trailer brake" on the 2010's

As far it being able to work on the 04-08 F-150's I really don't know. But what I do know that the 09's OEM controllers take into account the trucks ABS system to sync it with the trailer brakes.
