I've been having problems with my truck since it had 2000 miles on it. Running rough, not turning over, stalling on the road while in motion. Every single time I went to the dealership they could not replicate the problem and it was deemed fine. A couple weeks ago it did it again, and this time it threw a code. I took it to a mechanic friend of mine just to read the code and reset the light. I heard back from him and he said that it's hard to narrow down, but it could be the PCM, or something with the throttle body (both of which I imagine are very expensive). It did it again just the other day too, but this time no light. Here are all the times it's been to Ford and what the serive advisor entered on my records.

9/20/2005 – 2,102 miles
• Customer states on occasion truck will idle rough, enough to see windshield wipers vibrate
• Customer states intermittent delay in throttle

11/25/2005 – 4,916 miles
• Customer states periodically truck won’t turn over

2/14/2006 – 9,607 miles
• Customer states engine stalls intermittently on start-up. Problem occurs both hot and cold

1/23/2007 – 21,057 miles
• Customer states engine stalls on start-up

8/8/2007 – 25,319 miles
• Customer states while driving for a while customer will shut off truck, go to restart and will get nothing

2/15/2008 – 30,395 miles
• Customer states trouble starting vehicle

After that I stopped complaining about it when I took it in for oil changes because they would charge me just to look at it since I was out of warranty. I've had all of my service done at the dealership.
My questions are:
1) Does anyone else have similar problems, and what if anyhting has Ford done?
2) Do you think I would have any recourse with Ford if this does turn out to be an expensive problem since it is well documented? The truck just hit 45,000 miles, and I bought it in August of 2005, so I'm well out of warranty, but I've been complaing about similar problems since the truck had 2,000 miles on it.

 

What was the code?

 

I don't know right off hand. I have to go back and see the mechanic to get it. He's a friend of my brothers and I just brought it to him to get the code read rather than pay Ford for a diagnostic. I'll post it once I get it.
