will not spin the tires over 2000 rpm's

Hey guys i havent been here in a long time, but now i have 2004 ford 4.6 single cab with some mods on it, the only problem is that whenever i want to make a burn out it wont go over 2000 rpm's and it wont take off fast it just goes little by little. Some guy told me that the first trucks that ford made in 2004 they have something in TB that they wont let pass 2000 rpm's fast, thats why my truck is doing that i dont know if its true thats why im asking here, what do ya think anout it.

I THINK (could be totally wrong) you may need to get your torque coverter unlocked. That is achieved by a tune. I THINK.

Also what size tires are you running and what is your gear ratio.

I have 17 and a 3.73, im going to look at the torque coverter locked thing, i been tuning it i have hptuners let me try see if it works....

The torque converter shouldn't be locking in 1st gear. It seems like you have a long delay in the drive by wire strategy. You don't by change have traction control?

What mods do you have, what cab style, what drive train?

EDIT: Wait, you have an 02?

he said its a 04 single cab and he stated 3.73 gears with 17s

I think the issue is your tuning.

any stock 4.6 or 5.4 truck can quite easily burn the tires...aka brakestand.

^^ ETC control ? Can the HP Tuner folks help?

4.6 Punisher Jan 15, 2010 08:33 PM

I must have been reading too fast. Custom tunes should clear up a lot of your issues, but we still need to know if it's 4WD or 2WD and what other mods he has. Even with all the **** I've done to my truck, it won't spin tires from a dead stop. (3.55's to blame)

I think the main problem is you have a 4.6 your gonna need a bunch of mods to smoke tires with that V8.

I disagree! 300 ft lb's of torque is plenty. fwiw my 4.0 ranger could 'smoke' the tires, with 3.73 gears and 31's

Or a simple regear.

Why does anyone need to spin the tires on a truck?

4.6 Punisher Jan 15, 2010 10:45 PM
