interior trailer lights won't work

Hey guys, I need a little help with a problem with my buddies trailer/my truck. I have an 07 Super Crew, when I pull his enclosed 21' hooked up to my 7 pin, his interior lights will not work. When we have it hooked to his 06 Titan, or our other bud's 07 GMC Denali, they work. What should I be looking for, or what can I do?

I think i answered my own question. Might be missing a relay I need to install?

i have a 30 foot enclosed trailer and you have to have the trucks parking lights on before the interior lights work pretty weird try it though

ive heard of needing a relay for that plug to work before

all my tow relays are still in the plastic bag, but you need to determine if you have inserted the relays, and see if the center connector has 12 volts to it.

lots of RV's use that center pin to charge the battery in the trailer while towing. I used a relay to isolate mine in my old tow vehicle so the trailer wouldn't drain the truck battery overnight.

Same here. I have to have the parking lights on in order for the interior lights to work on both of our work trailers. It is this way for both my 04F150 and 94 F150, also with my bosses 02 2500HD Chev.

After you install the Ford provided relays, in order for the "hot" pin to provide power the running lights have to be on. This is a feature that was the result of some Ford engineer's 12 year old son leaving the interior lights on in a enclosed trailer while off roading in a remote area. When dad went to start the truck, surprise, battery dead. So the theory is. You have to have the running lights on for power to the trailer. That way you notice the truck lights on and hopefully turn them off, which will turn off the power to the trailer. Another advantage is you can have a 12V battery in the trailer which will get charged while the vehicle is running down the road, remember still need running lights on.

Yeah another qreat feature ford did pretty smart if you ask me I leave really early in the morning to go to car shows and I always stop the first 50 miles to check my straps on my truck and always shut the truck down and kill the lights then get in the trailer to turn the lights on and forget to leave the park lights on then have to walk back to the truck and turn them on and walk back to the trailer but that should be your problem also

It is all part of a fitness plan between Ford and your health professional

Thanks for the help. It wasn't working, even with the truck running, lights on. Installed the relay that should have been installed already... grrrr... now all is working!
