drop shackles.....
drop shackles.....
anybody currently have the rear drop shackles to level the height? I just opened a business so can't spend close to a grand for a full drop kit.....i'm just trying to lower the A$* of my harley until I'm in a position to get a full kit. Any comments on these shackles will be greatly appreciated...i'm just concerned because they're relatively cheap and seem like a 30min install
There are several companies that make drop shackles for our trucks. I just put a set of Rough Country drop shackles on mine. Price was good and they shipped the same day. Install might not be quite that easy if you have a vibration weight setup on the driver's side. I had to unbolt the spring from the axle to get the upper bolt swapped out, but was not a difficult job at all. Here's a link to the Rough Country shackles.
thanks for the info.....any change in ride quality? Did you go with a 2" level.....would love to see a pic if you have one. I like to see things installed on real trucks and not "Photoshopped" ones
I haven't noticed any change in ride quality. I'm not sure why you would. My front is lifted 1", so I only dropped the rear 1". It's a 4x4, so I doubt a pic will help you much. It's dirty, but I'll try and get a phone pic up today. Otherwise it would be next week. I'm heading out this afternoon for an extended weekend hunt.
CcHARLEY, is your truck 2wd or AWD? The awd versions have a lift block in the back just like the 4x4's do, all you have to do is take the block out, 15 minute job and a lot easier than changing shackles, been there done that so I know.
no i have the 2wd saleen charged model....thought it was funny they actually made the harley truck a 4x4. It looks like more of a luxury truck. I will say this, for some reason it looks like my rear sits alot higher than usual.. I'm gonna wash and wax this weekend so I should have pics up.
Well since you have a 2wd, drop shackles are the best option. I have a set of DJM drop shackles I'm not using if your interested.

That supercharger adds a lot of weight over the front end, so your front probably sits lower than a stock truck. I know I probably lost a 1/2" of ride height after I installed my supercharger.
Here is mine with djm lowering shackles (2"). no change in ride. no change in towing (other then the suspension obviously sits 2" lower causing the "sag" effect when towing heavy.)

I have the Ground Force kit on my truck -- dropped the back to just about level. I highly recommend the Ground Force kit because it already comes with the shims that are required to maintain your pinion angle. Lots of pictures (including a before and after on the shackle drop) in my gallery.......
