Tailgate lightbar install
Tailgate lightbar install
Just got done with adding a recon rear light bar on the back of my lariat.A fewposts mentioned an area that sticks out that you have to work around..so I thought i's show a few pic of the area in question and the install.
First..remove tailgate..and set light bar on the lip to fine the center and get some work space...

I marked the center of the truck and the center of the light bar..

Heres the spot people are talking about..passenger side hump that sticks out that you have to work around...
]
another view..

The work around..move the pad over about 2 inches..and back up the sticky back with another piece or 2 of mounting tape..or get a longer screw and put a few plastic washers between the light bar and the mount because the raised portion is out more than the pas is thick...Clean the area with alcohol to remove wax and road grime.

I wired my back up light wire..the white wire..to the lead from my back up camera which goes to the harness to the back up light.

I plugged in the 4 wire plug in the connector on the bumper..this I will hard wire later today to free up the plug..but more so that the connnection doesn't get corroded with the salt used here in cleveland during the winter..and its done

It was dark last night when I finished so the pics suck due to the lighing of the street light..but you get the idea.total time..about an hour or so.

Yeah I am..
But because of it he knocked the price down to 40 bucks..or I could get another for 85.00 with all the lights working..I figgured what the hell ..1 little led or save 45 bucks a month before christmas.Not to mention for all you guys that think the back up LED will light your way..they don't.Its more just a cool loooking thing.Your factory back up lights are brighter.But what I did notice is with my back up camera where it is at night theres enought light from ther LED's to change from the greenish night vision to a color picture..whoopee.
Anyway..I'm more concerned with the lighting while I'm driving so people dont rear end me.
