Suspension Torque Specs - Take a peek
I've seen alot of posts lately about torque and other generic questions reguarding the suspension on these trucks. Thought I'd post this up again in 1 spot.
Maybe get it put as a sticky? |

I highly suggest everybody save these drawings that are particular to your model of truck (4x2 or 4x4).
I have the images hosted in my Photobucket account...and they shouldn't be messed with. But you never know I have tons of other info I can call up. Throw me some ideas and I'll try to get more complilations for y'all |
Thanks for the specs. I will probably be needing them shortly.
I was going to make a post asking if anyone had replaced bushing in the upper/lower control arms. Is there anything on the DVD that talks about replacing the bushings? I cant find my haynes manual but I doubt it has any good info in it anyway. Thanks |
am i reading this correct the bolt for the front shock says 351 ft lbs?
|
yes, the lower coil-over bolt is supposed to be torqued to 351 ft-lbs.
When I did my 2.5" AS install, I had to employ a variety of Guden-tight torque...aka Star Torque. Used my 250 ft-lb torque wrench, then put a wrench on there and went till I saw stars |
@ countryboy
the DVD doesn't really break it down. basically says to remove the nuts/bolts and replace stuff, then re-install stuff. mainly that DVD is useful for diagrams and pictures |
why so tight i replaced my shocks for belltechs and i probably only went to a 100 ft lbs where can i get a dvd or book at that shows the specs thanks
|
search for "Ford DVD" on eBay Motors. don't spend over $25 shipped for one though
|
why are the bolt for the shock so tight for? i wondering if thats the reason im getting some steering wheel vibs cause there not tight enough?
|
Bookmarked. :)

Ford F150 Haynes Repair Manual is that the same as the dvd if so i would rather have the book
|
Haynes Manual is something that company produces by tearing down, and re-assembling a given vehicle.
that is why they have all of those specific pictures. The Ford DVD Repair Manual is distributed by Ford to all the Dealerships across the country and is what the actual Dealership Repair Techs use. It basically has all the info you'd ever need or want about any Ford for that year model. I have the DVD's for a 05/06, 08/09, 09/10 models. I've had several Haynes/Chilton manauls over the years. i'll take this Ford one anyday. Much more detailed, and it actually is usefull for the most part. the Ford DVD however assumes you have some basic abilities. It doesn't walk you through everything. btw, no idea about why they are so darn tight...but I'm guessing there is a reason. I'd suggest you go back in there and make sure it's all tight |
