5yr/60k warranty question

Hey guys,

So my trannys been acting a little strange lately in my 2005 4.6l, and I was thinking about bringing it in so they can take a look.

I've read a few places that the 5yr/60k power-train warranty enacted in 2007 was retroactive to 2005... can anyone clarify this for me?

No.

It was retroactive for people who bought 2007 model year vehicles before 14 July 2006 (the day the extended powertrain warranties became active).

sorta Quintin...but not 100%

the 5yr/60k Warranty started with 2007 models across the board

due to some customer outcry, and to help their image, Ford went back and gave certain 2006 models the same coverage. It had to be a 2006 model built after July 2006 to qualify.

the only special Warranties that 2005 models has is the Fuel Injector Extended coverage if your truck was one of the special batches. You should have recieved a letter in the mail if this is/was applicable to your truck though.

That's not entirely true either. Some didn't get the letter and qualify. Ford Customer Satisfaction program 07M08 covers all 2005 Ford vehicles with the 5.4 3v engine.

see...between all of us, the entire story will come out.

@ stealth
it might be worthy of making a Warranty sticky for guys. Especially as these trucks are now mostly getting to the end of their Bumper-to-Bumper Warranties.

break it down by years and who has what warranty and for how long.

Further clarification on the 2006's

"See your Dealer for limited-warranty details. Includes 2006 and 2007 model year Ford products regardless of the launch date. 2007 model year Focus coverage will be greater. 2007 model year E-Series and F-Series (up to F-550) diesel engine warranty coverage is 5 years/100,000 miles. Unique hybrid components have 8-year/100,000-mile limited-warranty coverage. A 2006 Model Year Ford vehicle sold on or after July 14, 2006 will be covered by a complimentary 5year/60,000 Mile Ford ESP PowertrainCARE extended service contract with a $100 deductible. For 2007 Model Year Ford products the warranty is fully transferable with no deductible."

my 2006 didn't have any sort of $100 deductable attached. unless Ford has revised their policy since 2007, the 5yr/60k powertrain is only applicable to trucks built and sold after July 2006.

maybe that $100 deductible ESP applies to 2006 models built/sold prior to July 2006.
