Hooking up Aux and Ipod (wire color codes)
Hooking up Aux and Ipod (wire color codes)
I found the adaptor I need that will work with the radio (I have aux button but no port) and I bought the ipod adapter that will play and charge the ipod.
I need to find the following wires... I'm hoping its possible to identify them by color.
1. Power source
2. Switch on/off power source
I found a wiring diagram for an 03 f-150 and IM guessing the wires are the same colors right?
I havent taken the radio out yet to try..
And my other concern is that I cant seem to get the center besel off. I pull from the bottom and it doesnt budge. Im afriad Ill break it pulling it as described in the do it your self thread here. You definetely just pull it off right?
Other than finding the two different power source wires and tapping into them, the install seems like it will be really easy. I cant wait to have good sound quality using my ipod. The fm transmitter has been driving me crazy where I live now.. too much interference.

I did this install last weekend and it went well. Start at the top with the besel. I used a small pry bar...the fasteners are about an inch from the very top kind of on the bend. you need to disconnect the wiring plug at the top and the same for the cig lighter and climate control. 4 in all.
I tapped the constant power source for the cig lighter (blue/orange) with an in-line splice. For the ground I drilled and tapped into the frame behind the ashtray/drink holder (which I removed for more room to work) I then mounted the Aux jack in the tray below the ashtray drink holder to the right side to stay in line with where the adapter plugged into the radio.
I didn't need an on/off but you should be able to find one once you pull the besel.
