06 FX4 4x4 Issues

Ok so i tried to read throught the forums can someone help, with the 4 wheel drive? So when i start my truck the 4x4 light turns on, if i select 4 hi the light turns on for a sec ten turns off. So eveyone told me to check the sotf motor well i laid under the truck if some one turns on the 4 wheel hi i can feel the shift on the fly motor click, so does that mean its working? it only clicks as sonn as the short click stops the light goes out so it clicks for less than a sec, what else should i check? i heard a solenoid behind the battey? if the sotf motor clicks is that solenoid ok? thanks any help is appreciated.

I'm not really familiar with all the mechanical aspects of the 4WD system but have you checked to see if you have vacuum pressure on the front hubs?

The motor needs to do more than click. It actually has to start and stop - shifting the transfer case. If all it's doing is clicking, it may be locked up. A few light taps with a mallet will sometimes free it up. Once you verify that it's actually shifting the transfer case, you can start checking for other things like the solenoid that helps lock the front hubs and the Individual Wheel Ends (IWEs) that actually lock each side. If you do a little searching here, you'll find a wealth of information on those subjects.
