Long-term report - 2004 F150

I had a couple very minor issues right after I bought it that were covered under warranty. Since then I've replaced both front window regulators but that's about it. Regular maintenance and nothing else. I'm very happy. I get in and turn the key and it goes and goes. Just the way it should be. Thanks Ford.

2004 F150 Lariat 4x4 Super Cab - Just about to hit 100k miles. Still on the same battery.

That's good news, story sounds exactly like my 05, but with 20,000 less miles.

I too am happy with my 04 FX4 to this point. 71,000 miles and the only thing I've done to it is replace the front passenger brake caliper, seized up on me a couple months ago. No electrical problems, no vacuum problems, 4x4 works like a charm. Best vehicle I've owned to date.

I still have to face the spark plug issue, but I'm trying not to worry myself to death over it.

I treat my truck like my baby though, I drive it like a grandpa, so my hope is all these threads with people having major issues has more to do with driving style than quality.

mine just rolled over 100k. My truck works hard doing ranch work and a lot of climbing at elevation. The last 20k have been on heavy 35s, too. Outside of a transmission failure at 72k its been just about flawless.

I'm dreading the spark plugs though. 2004s are the worst and I still have the originals in there, and the cam phasors are ticking as well...

Come now, remember the whole seized engine affair?

That was an entirely different situation, which Ford took measures to take care of.

I`m pushing 138,000. I work my truck hard. Pull my travel trailer, Haul cabinet (furniture) Full loads ! At least 3 to 4 times a week. Only major issues I`ve had is : Replace upper and lower ball joints, Power steering rack , Starter, and Alt. Plus normal wear and tear stuff . My old truck a 01 chevy barely hit 90,000 and had to replace rr end, tranny , waterpump, ++++.

F150 has be good to me !

clutch packs in rear end need replaced today and the rear shocks are leaking...$1200 down the drain...

plus $980 a month ago getting all engine, fuel, tranny maintenance done as well as the drive shaft seal was leaking and one axle seal.

only 91,000 on the odo...i wish it would just disappear...i don't haul a damn thing with it either, don't go off-road and don't beat on it. i hate this truck.

Sounds like you need to find another mechanic or do some work yourself.

2006 FX4 with 25k on it the only thing I have done to it is regular oil changes every 5k, installed a php gryphon programer and jlt air intake, just rotated the tires. I haul about 7000 lbs once in a rare while but do get on the pedal to feel the 340 horses. I thank God no problems yet and plan to do the tranny and transfer case oil change at 30k. So far a very good truck.

My 05 has 92,000 on it. Replaced battery, one window regulator, a front bearing and rotor(did both sides, only one bad), sparkplugs, and brake pads due to dust. About time to do the pads again, with 81,000 on them. I love this truck.

You can't complain about preventative maintenance being costly. Everyone has to do it.

If that's how you feel maybe try public transportation.

seems like everyone has the same problems. I wonder if Ford does this to make more money. Afterall a truck that costs 40k sticker and boasts of being tough, shouldn't it not have problems we've been having?

Now I gotta worry about my cam phasers or whatever they are along with spark plugs?

My 05 has been awsome... it has 41k on it now with no major problems other than a TSB for a check ball valve in my transmission, but my extended service plan covered it.

I love my truck
