Raced an 05 Dodge Ram Daytona edition.
A coworker has an 05 single cab Dodge Ram Daytona. We have poked fun at one another before about who's truck is the fastest. He rarely drives it to work. Since he drives 40 miles each way he has a Ford Ranger to save gas. Well last thursday he finally drives the Dodge to work and when we got off work we decided to find out the truth. I am in no way promoting street racing but where we work we have a 2 mile long stretch of smooth black top without a house around and the only traffic on this road are the employee's at our job. Both sides of the road have soybean fields for miles. Back to the story we pulled up beside each other and start from a 10mph roll just incase his truck tried to spin from a dead stop. We both floored our trucks at the same time and I outan him till about 103mph then he slowly came by me. The whole way the front end of his truck was at about my rear tire. Now a couple of my coworkers think my truck should have just blown the doors off his since I have a programmer. I thought it was impressive that I even beat him with my only mods being the Edge programmer set to level 3,modified stock intake with a drop in K&N filter and true dualed 2.5" straight pipes. His truck is completely stock. What I can't seem to convince anyone is that his truck is a RCSB 2wd truck with the 5.7 Hemi and the 3.90 gear ratio. My truck is a CCSB 2wd with 33" tire's,5.4 v8 and has 3.55 gear's with simple mod's. If I had my stock tire's installed he wouldn't have ever caught me but third gear really bog's down my truck with these 33's and 3.55 gears. What do you all think? Is it worth bragging about or should I be disappointed?
Thanks! Is your truck a single cab? Mine weighs 5,500lbs sitting just like it is now. I was surprised also.
The edge programmer is definately my favorite mod so far.

Yea i don't promote street racing but this area is a pretty safe place. Meaning not any pedestrians or traffic to worry about.
My truck is the one in my signature. 02 Supercab 5.4L FX4 Lariat 4x4 traction lok 3.55 rear I don't know what it weighs but I had a 2000 truck almost identical to this one that weighed 5000 lbs. The 04s and up weigh about 500lbs more than the 97to 03 models due to chassis reinforcing they did in 04. The insurance institute didn't like the way the F150 crunched the driver in a front end crash where the truck hit something on the left front. So now Ford trucks have the heaviest duty chassis with the least flex of any truck you can buy especially Toyota. In other words it's the safest of all the trucks in a collision.
I loved my old FX4 before the Supercharger...but lets be honest.
When I owned it, I also had a 5.7 Hemi Durango. The 325 HP version.
My Durango was AWD, 5 speed tranny, ran 32" tires and weighed about 5,500 lbs, had a 3.55 gearset.
It would flat out run circles around my Supercrew. Wasn't even a competition. Off the line, my FX4 was the quicker. But once that Hemi got to 2,000 RPM it was like a rocket.
If I were ever to line-up against a 5.7 Hemi again, I'd demand a race from a stop. That way you can sorta negate the HP advantage at first. They are exactly like a car. No fun until you hit the RPM's.
Something is wrong with your buddies truck. A 5.7 Hemi Reg Cab truck is fast as hell. Even with his 4 speed tranny.

Ram Daytona's are pigs weighing in at 5150 lbs and having only 345 hp and 475 lb-ft. He's running a 15.5 1/4 mile. I know about this because I had an old SOHC Explorer that would run circles around these Daytonas.
If yours is a single cab, you're weighing in at 4750 lbs and with your edge you're running about 320 hp and running around a 15.1 sec 1/4 mile.
You should run door-to-door or slightly better. If you're a supercab, then yes, it would be surprising for you to win.

Either way you won!! Winnings, WINNING!
I ran my truck (06 Leveled SuperCab FX4) on a G-Tech.
It's got a 5.4L, 35's, 3:73's, AirAid Intake with a K&N and Magnaflow Exhaust. ( No Programmer ) YET!
And I ran a 1/4 of 16.49 secs @ 88.94 mph with a raction time of .43 sec
0 - 80 mph 13.89 sec with OD OFF.
With OD ON ran a 17.54 sec 1/4 @ 80.76 mph
0 - 80 mph 17.19 secs
So even if he slowly passed you at 103 mph. In the 1/4 you still had him beat!

The Dodge Magnum I spoke of is the station wagon car, same basic car as the Dodge Charger and the Chrysler 300.
