F150, definitely not a popular vehicle in Europe

I'm over here filling in on drums for a friends band. When I'd toured here in the past, I never paid much attention to vehicles. However, after keeping my eye open this time, I did not see one single F150 anywhere in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium or France.

Saw an '04 - '05 King Ranch yesterday in the U.K. The truck looked huge compared to the extremely small cars here.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Strange, totally used to seeing at least 50 F150s in the states everyday.

Sucks to be them. One trip to Ikea and they could fit their entire apartment or home back there.

You've seen the size of the roads in those countries... I wouldn't want to drive around town in a 150 either!

I did see one Escalade in Amsterdam though, complete with spinners, a young thugy kid driving, and Snoop Dogg's "Drop it like it's hot" blasting. It seemed a little out of place

That's not it as much as the price of fuel. I was stationed in Germany a long time ago when I was in the service. We had an allotment (gas stamps) of so many gallons a month (if you owned a car) and after that you had to buy on the German market. It was exactly double what we had to pay on post. Our son was stationed in Germany for 4 years from '99 to '03. When we went to visit, it was still the same thing. Gas was $2.00 a gallon here then and $4.00 on the German economy. It's quite a bit worse in the UK I believe. The actual price of the fuel is about the same, it's the massive tax that doubles the price. How would you like to pay $9.00 a gallon when it was $4.50 here and get 14 MPG. A little tough! You understand why they don't drive a whole lot of gas guzzlers.

I was stationed over in the UK RAF Mildenhall just a few years ago. At the time I had the Ford Escape and of course for us Americans it's a compact SUV. But over there the locals would say ask me what I needed such a huge truck for. Really it was big compared to what everyone there drove. Most parking spots I could barely fit in and even getting into a garage was a tight fit. It's all about the culture.

It may not be popular in europe, but you should see Kuwait....

Everyone there drives an Expedition, F-150, Suburban, anything huge that chugs gas. Kind of funny to watch someone driving around in a Tahoe XL Denali considering what most of the countryside looks like. Nothing but flat open sand, with a city popping up here and there.

you can sell trucks in europe for a ton of money. my step brother brought over a 2004 ranger extended cab 4x4 and people ask to have their picture taken in it all the time. he gets tons of offers for people to buy it. i dont know why he doesnt. his company paid for him to have it shipped over. (the company believes he will be able to cure a certain type of cancer that only effects children. im sure every hopes he is successful.)

however when i spent 2 summers over there there doesnt seem to be a big use for trucks. in the city it would just be a hassel to drive with the little roads, not to mention the gas. most people live in apts in the cities and in most european cultures everyone is a minimalist. they tend to use vans like we use trucks here. kinda odd but at 9 dollars a gallon id but my big fat *** on a vespa. would a vespa even move a 6'2 394lb guy???

No joke! I had a few of my wife's co-workers from London take pictures with my truck when they came to the US. I thought it was pretty funny.

Jeremy Clarkson = pansy jackass. I bet he likes the smell of his own farts.

Makes me very happy that we kicked the Brits in their fruity behinds.
