RE: Maintenance Questions

Well, thanks to this board I have sucessfully changed the rear diff fluid which eliminated a shudder I would get when making a turn first thing in the morning.

Now, I have a couple of other questions. I had my transmission fluid changed at JLube and I see they used Dexron III with an additive that makes it Mercon V compatible. I have been driving it for about 1,000 miles and have not noticed any problems yet. My question is, should I get it purged again at the dealership and have genuine Mercon V put in?

I also had the engine flushed and have read subsequent horror stories about the process. The truck seems to run just fine. What should I be on the look out for.

BTW it is a 2007 XLT 4x4 with the 5.4L FFV and 30,000 miles.
I feel incredibly stupid after all this. It is an expensive lesson. From now on, I am doing all my own maintenance or having it done at the dealership. My intentions were good, it was my plan that sucked. I just want to take the best care of this truck as I can.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I am donning my flamesuit for being such a dumbass.

Wcook,
You didn't mention what motor you have or miles on it.

Sorry about that. It is a 2007 with 30,000 miles and the motor is the 5.4 FFV variant.

JLube and all those other places are absolutly horrible, never ever trust them

If it was me I'd definetly get the tranny fluid flushed.
