Westin Brushguard

I can get a black Westin brushguard for $300 it was mounted then taken off so it is new.I It came off a 07 will it fit my 05? I heard it might not. My question is I have chrome bumper and I hate chrome would a black brushguard look right with chrome bumper or not? Is this a good deal?

What do you want the guard for? A Westin brushguard is more for looks than any real protection. $300 is OK if it is just for looks but don't hit anything with it. If you want a serious guard take a look at Go Industries "Rancher" Grill Guard, 1.9"s of fully welded tubular steel with a built in step for engine access. Plus you will not have to remove your tow hooks for installation.

I'm definently agreeing with jdruzik on this one. Westin is mostly just for looks and you probably wont get any protection out of it. If you look it it barely protects headligts where as jdruzik's and mine protect the whole front end basically. So you might also wanna take a look at the Top Gun Grill Guard... I bought mine used for $250 so I dont know what they normally run. Try Craigslist for some grill guards. You might find a Ranch Hand or something

Heres some pics of my Top Gun

Both of those are nice but if you really want protection you want to get a boondocks. I have hit a deer with this and the deer just slide off the side due to the angled front. I got it on video but I'm having a heck of a time getting it converted.

I just had to play along haha. Both the Go Rancher and Ranch Hands are good solid bumpers. You got to see them in person to appreciate.

^^^^ I love this truck, so sexy.

To answer your question, no a brushguard for a 2005 will not fit a 2007 truck. I had a buddy with a go rhino brush guard that he was going to give me a great deal on, it would not fit on my 2008, so it won't fit on a 2007 either. As far as brush guards go, I like the big functional ones as well but not everyone needs that. Some actually use them just for light brush protection or just for looks, either way, they look awesome.

I'd have to say impact's is the only one that provides real protection... I had a ranch hand on my 99 dodge that was beefy like theirs and let me tell you it was not worth a damn for protection  Then again a hard enough impact on the front end will make anything give.. :ll:

Hmmm, since it won't fit yours, any chance your deal might extend to someone else on the forum that's looking for one?

The Go Industries Rancher Grill Guard will fit '05 through the '08 F-150 trucks... There different adjustments for the model years...

HiVoltage14.4 08-11-2009 11:31 PM

Impact9 - Does that guard come up and over the hood? If so, how do you open it? I like the light rack on top as well. You could likely knock and elephant out of the way!!
The truck looks great.

I didn't think there was any difference in the model years 04-08 except the fog lights changed and some trucks have tow hook openings and others don't. I originally had a T&H brushguard before I bought the bumper. It installed using the tow hook mounts points under the frame. I sold it and the guy put it on a 06. Never had any problem installing it far as I know.
