What's this?

The other day, I noticed this line dangling from the rear axle of my truck. I don't know how long it's been that way. There are no dummy lights on and I have noticed no strange symptoms from my truck in any way.

I made some faint yellow circles at the end of the line and the connection where it looks like it should connect to the axle at. It looks like it runs up to the bottom of the bed of my truck.

Is this something serious?

Thanks!

omg thats the main bleed off valve, that hose holds lots of brake pressure, your lucky you noticed that. that could have been disastrous.

jk. idk?

Looks like the axle vent tube. Is there a piece broken off inside the end of the hose?

I'm not sure. I need to go look at it better.

That's your blinker fluid line! If you don't get that connected and more fluid back in it, your muffler bearings will seize up!

I agree, axle vent tube. They pull off sometimes when you jack up the truck.

yeah just a vent tube...plug it back in before dirt and stuff gets into that hole and plugs it.
The other end of the tube runs up into the rail of the bed and clips in..i took a pic inside the rail but its dark and crappy but its inside where the yellow circle is and it vents in there

It's the axle vent tube, the other end should be clipped to the underside of the bed floor. In the old days there was just a vent cap right on the axle tube and when you went into water up to the axle tube, the axle would fill up with water. Now they add the tube on and you can go thru deeper water before you get water in the axle.
