ford says these transmissions have a lifetime fluid in them and never need maintenance. whatever that means.
a thread that has the link about it.

I doubt Ford would back that considering my manual says change the fluid every 30k.

Well thats what my stealership said to do at 30k also, but after talking with them an asking about the "lifetime trans fluid"/150k Basically they said the 30k is for worst case. In other words a lot of offroading or regular heavy towing. And although a trans flush is apart of the 30k service it is not necessary to do to keep your warranty according to them.

me personally i would change the fluid reguardless of what ford says to do it or not. i was not implying that i thought the fluid would acctually last a life time just what the little article said

X2, I probably only agree with you though because mine went very prematurely, just like yours did, if I had no problems I wouldn't say anything

It may be too late, but one of the hardest things these transmissions deal with is going from OD with the torque convertor locked to 2nd gear. If you can, downshift out of OD and then floor it. That way the truck is only down shifting one gear at a time.

I agree with the trany's being a joke my old 2000 trany let go at 96k traded it in for my current truck so far so good but if it lets go. I'll go back to a manual trany. Which means either I'll step up to a super duty or step down to a Mustang GT.

re: headline
That's what she said. (would've been better had azmidget wrote "tranny" instead)
