Question Nitrogen filled tires? Worth it?

Hey everyone, how you're doing well. I was driving by a Goodyear and on the window it said something to the effect of, "Fill your tires with Nitrogen and get better gas mileage, longer tire life, smoother ride, painless divorce, etc." Is there anything to this?

Thanks for your time guys,
Anthony

I have had Nitrogen filled tires for a couple years. My dealer hasn't charged me any extra to do it, though. I haven't noticed any significant change in tire pressure (other than the effects of going from -40C to +25C).

On a side note, it didn't help with the divorce any ... ...

It means you dont loose as much pressure with big temperature changes. And tires do run slightly cooler. I wouldn't pay to have it done, or pay more then 20ish. We used to charge 50 bucks at Land Rover. Not worth it IMO but its nice if you have it.

If you buy your tires at Discount Tire, they provide the Nitrogen for free, and any future refiles. At least in Florida....

I have not noticed any difference. If I had to pay for it, I would stick with regular "air".

Nitrogen is only useful if you live in the arctic or race your truck.

True.

I work for Goodyear and we don't mess with the Nitrogen stuff at our shop.

Remember, the ambient air we breathe is 80% Nitrogen anyway.

^true.

We use n2 on military aircraft tires because of the extreme temp flux from altitude to landing temp. There is no need to do this on vehicles since only an act of God would cause temp changes to matter to a truck tire.

I had it in my old truck and only needed them refilled once over two plus years. This winter I had regular air and as the temp went colder I needed to fill up the tires 4 or more times. I would say nitrogen is worth about 25, any more then that I would not bother.

I've not noticed any difference (i've had it since Feb when I bought tires). They do give you some ugly *** green valve stem caps when they put Nitrogen in your tires.
