New Telescoping towing mirrors HELP installation
I would like to install Factory Towing Mirrors on my 2008 XLT 4x4 Crew Cab. The mirrors that are on it now, just have power adjust only. The Factory part numbers for the new ones are
7L3Z-17682-AE, 7L3Z-17683-AE they have power, heated glass, puddle light and turn signle. The Dealer told me they might fit but he doesn't want to try. If you do a seach these are the ones that come up and say that are suppost to work and work well and might and features to my Ford Truck. What I need to know is if they will fit and if so, has any one mad this convertion and how did it work. Then how-to-remove the old ones, I know the door panel needs to come off (how). Then how-to-install the new ones with any mods/sketches that are needed. Help Thanks Ron |
fitment wise...any mirror from any 2004-2009 F-150 will work
you will have to custom wire in the puddle,heat,fold functions...not hard, but a bit tedius and time consuming to remove the door panel: 1. pry the speaker cover off 2. unbolt the speaker & unplug wire harness 3. remove the access cover behind the door handle 4. remove those 2 bolts that were covered and pull the door handle loose 5. lift up the window switch & integrated plastic 6. remove the bolt connecting the arm-rest to the door frame 7. at the bottom of the door panel, there are 2 screw 8. lift the entire door handle up, then pull out 9. this exposes the bare door frame. you'll see 3 nuts. 10 remove those 3 nuts and mirror pops off |

What type of custom wiring would be involed? any wiring diagrams on hand.
