Leaf Spring Shackle nut missing

Its on a 02 screw but theyre slow over there.. i just noticed that the screw holding on the leaf spring to the shackle was missing, how it happened.. IDK
i got the nut but since its half in, i can get it to align correctly on the side where the nut goes. the wholes dont align so the screw doesnt pop out. how do i fix this? do i have to remove the shackles or Ubolts also?
anybody know
tia

You have to take the pressure off the leafs by jacking it up enough to where you can move the bolt easily and line up the holes. Be sure to use jack stands!

Judging by the marks on that perch you've already takin' a BFH to it to try and get that bolt back through.
That's not going to work while the full weight of the truck is on it.

As Stealth already said, jack it up and make sure to use jack stands. We want you around to tell us how it went.

Put the jack under the axel tube not the diff itself, the weight of the truck can crack the housing.

You need to jack it up by the truck frame, not the axle. Jack it up until the bolt is moved somewhat easily, since you unloaded the spring pressure from the leafs by jacking from the frame.

so by the hitch?
and by doing that the leaf is gunna be shaped like a "U" right? isnt that easier for it to snap? idk alot, but it looks dangerous lol

It's not budging because you still have weight on that spring. Get your jack stands out and put them under the frame and lower the truck down onto them. Let the jack down some more and let the rear end hang so you have all the weight of the truck off the spring and you should be able to move it.

Jacking under the axle does not take any weight off the leaf springs. Jack the truck up under the frame of the truck so that the suspension can hang.

i dont have jack stands at the moment.. so i need to put jack stands on both ends, then lower the jack? what part of the frame tho.. the hitch is connected to the frame, but is that too far back?

Start with just that side and see if you can get it back in. Make sure that if you lift the entire back of the truck, you chock the front wheels so that it doesn't roll on you. Once those back wheels are off the ground, your e-brake does nothing. If you can't get it back in with just the one side lifted, put a jack stand under that side and jack up the other side. just be careful.
