I've been looking around a little on exactly how to go about changing the keypad colors, (sick of the green) and I found this on another site. Not sure if the new model f-150 keypad is anything like the one shown on here, but I thought I would post it anyway.

lens color

I just used a razor knife, went over it several times. I used emery cloth set on something hard and then rubbed the lens aginst it to get the angle/bevel I wanted at the top (a/c panel lens)

If you get it scratched, then I used scratch out (pollishing compound) to get it out, just like clearing up yellowed headlights.

Use a good cement (superglue will leave a white residue) I used model car cement

my first lens I made from a chip clip, lol got tired of waiting for the sheet to get here, Good luck with your mod

LED's

Remember the LED's are polar, if they don't work flip them 180 and try again... if you look closely you can see a corner of the led is missing, that should match the direction of the ones you are removing...also there is green color on the led's to help with the direction...... get a 9v battery and wire it up so the panel comes on with the battery....remember the + and the - remove one OLD led and set the new one in it's place, move the new led over the soldier points till it lights, once lit soldier in place! I do that with all the stuff I swap, that way you know it'll be lit (good soldier job) and then you can go onto the next with out having to plug it in the truck to test it!

success! i did the radio, hvac, steering wheel, and headlight switch LED's. it looks great so all i need to do now is the guage cluster, door switches, and sunroof/rear window switches. Ill be doing these on monday and will have pics then. This is really and easy job once you get going.

If you have the switches apart you just unsolder the old leds and solder the new ones on. Making sure the polarity is correct.

Here is my thread about the light changes. However, i did mine a little different, i took the light boards out and just wired in 3mm leds with resistors which is a little more difficult but gives the same result.

Leds

[QUOTE=zachespo;3739012]If you have the switches apart you just unsolder the old leds and solder the new ones on.QUOTE]

I understand that, and most of them are just as you said, unsolder and resolder. My problem is with the rear windows, and the door locks(i think the locks are the same). the circutry is on the bottom side of the circuit board. so obviously i pulled the circuit board off, just as the fella did earlier in this post. but the led is sodered face down with the bulb sticking through the board. My plcc-2's wont fit through the hole and if i solder them on upside down then ive gotta fill a big gap with soder. Unless im just making this harder than it is, im a little lost on those 4 buttons

thanks for any guidance you can give
