flashing engine icon

i tried the search to no avail.

yesterday i had to accelerate to get out of the way of a semi. when i stomped on the gas the engine reved way up maybe 4k, was not looking at that, and did not put out the power that i would expect. when i could i looked at the dash and the engine icon was flashing. after 30-45 seconds it stopped and truck ran normal.

it is an 05 screw with auto and 5.4. original plugs and no engine work other than scheduled oil and belts and fuel filter at 30k.

does this mean it will leave me walking soon. any guesses as to cause?

thanks.

flashing means misfire...id take it to the dealership pretty soon, probly due for a plug change, also there may be a problem with an injector which ford put out an 11 year 120k mile warranty for on 2005 trucks.
