so the tsb doesnt say anything about penetrating oil, should i put some pb blaster down the holes over night, also the motorcraft carburetor cleaner im assuming you can get from the dealer?

also would it be beneficial to run seafoam through the engine before the removal to try to get some of the carbon out?

unless the tsb has changed, I could have sworn it specified penetrating oil specifically aero kroil, which is actually top notch stuff anyways... but who knows maybe the tsb has changed. I used PB blaster when i did mine at 50k... at 115k I would use the good stuff, aerokroil, and when you put in new ones, use the good nickel antiseize, not the permatex copper or nickel, they are like 500 degrees less in umm temperture stuff. the good stuff is the motorcraft x-5 or something like that and its 20 bucks.. BUT!! I'm thinking you can go to a dealership with a spoon and plastic baggy and beg for a spoonful cause i mean a few "drops" is all you need.

I've heard people play fun for changing them early. But isin't it actually beneficial to do such a thing? Im at 35,000 miles, and I kind of want to change mine so I wont have a whole lot of troubles.

The first TSB specified Kroil and the second changed to Ford Carburator Cleaner.

The penetrating oil, is the carburetor cleaner. http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricant...nce%20Products My local dealer said the PM-3 number wasn't a good number but they couldn't figure out what was. I'm thinking they just had no clue.

Read the tsb, good stuff to know and in my favorites.

Question: How do I know if my 4.6 is a 3 valve as mentioned in the tsb. My truck is 04 F150xl basic truck with the 4.6 auto, no 4wd.

I thought the 4.6 didn't have this problem.

The 4.6 2 valve engine does not have this problem.

Sea Foam is a hit or miss with everyone. I for one will use it before attempting the spark plug change. Alot of people think it's for cleaning the intake, but I believe it concentrates on the combustion chamber. I'm gonna try just about everything I can before I do the plugs.

The 4.6 3v is not in these trucks. It's in the Mustangs, etc. The truck 4.6 is a 2v.
