What's the matter with people ?

I put my truck on-line to try to sell.. All I have gotten is bogus calls from brokers, etc.. I finally had, what I thought, was a legit call last night. I got it on my answering machine. For the heck of it, I looked up the number and it was a Ford dealer !!.. i found the salesman who had called me, and e-mailed him.. I was a bit to the point, and felt good to call him out !!!..

That sucks man. Don't sell it! :(

I put my running boards on Craig's List and kept getting all these scammers asking for my "final price". I finally told on of them $1,000 ( I asked for $200 in the ad). They asked where to mail the checks. I hate scammers. Good luck with selling your truck.

i get calls from brokers all the time too. its ridiculous. Everyone wants a cut

If they keep calling, threaten them with a lawsuit. They'll stop after that.

Lately the problem Im having is people not showing up to buy stuff Im selling. I had a guy call me Thursday and set up a time yesterday to buy my stock wheels and he never called or showed up and I waited around an extra hour for him. He called from a blocked number so I couldnt call him.

Another guy was emailing me a bunch of times this week about some Mustang center caps Im selling and wanted to set up a time but never called me when he said he was going to.

What do the brokers try and tell you? That they can sell your truck?

Xterrable Feb 28, 2009 12:10 PM

Yeah, they called me once. I was selling a 12 year old Tempo that had like 14,000 miles on it. It was my aunts when she died. They kept calling saying that they are a broker and sold a car just like mine for more money and they would love to help my get more exposure for the car.

Im sure that they can get your car more air-time, but when it comes down to it, your better off going to a dealer and letting them buy it from you. This guy who called me wanted a pretty nice cut.

I cant believe people actually believe the scammers. Especially the ones who want to overpay you and then get cash back from you.. Some must flal for it or they would keep it up...

same here. i got my rims and tires on ebay and i got an email from a guy who wanted me to print out his certified money out and he would have his driver pick my wheels up immediately, crooks all of them.

Tylus Feb 28, 2009 08:26 PM

sad thing is, there are stupid people who fall for these scams

@ podge
your best bet would probably be to park it on a busy street corner/parking lot and competitevly price her. That is more likely to get a serious buyer, especially as they can look it over a bit before calling

ATOM Feb 28, 2009 08:53 PM

i actually sold many vehicles on ebay, couple trucks, four wheeler, snowmobile.
